Founder, intralogistics planner and project lead

Fabian Ecker

Fabian plans and leads intralogistics and warehouse automation projects from concept and supplier selection through integration, testing and go-live. He founded Tidira in Basel so industrial companies and project teams can work directly with the person responsible for the analysis, planning and recommendation.

His work since 2012 spans system integration, industrial project delivery, warehouse operation, maintenance, ERP implementation and project-side specialist planning. An early concept decision shapes what suppliers price, what a building must accommodate, how software responsibilities are divided, what tests must prove and what the operating team must live with.

Experience across the handovers

Four perspectives across the project lifecycle.

01

2012 to 2018

System integration at KNAPP

Commercial and technical project leadership across Europe and the Americas, including project engineering, workshops, functional specifications, budgets, schedules, mechanical, controls and IT coordination, software testing, commissioning and handover.

02

2019 to 2022

Industrial project delivery and operation

Planning and implementation of a fully automated high-bay warehouse with WCS/MFS and SAP EWM, followed by direct responsibility for operation, maintenance planning and expansion concepts.

03

2022 to 2023

Warehouse and ERP leadership at Roam

Building the warehouse, recruiting and leading the team, establishing the processes and paperless execution, controlling inventory and implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for a growing e-mobility manufacturer in Nairobi.

04

2023 onward

Project-side specialist planning

Concepts, specifications, tenders, supplier dialogue, layouts, building and system interfaces, qualification-aligned documentation, tests and readiness in advanced manufacturing and life-science environments, including current Tidira work.

A note from Fabian

I do not see my role as validating a preferred technology or supplier. My job is to determine what the business needs to deliver, what the operation must become and which investment can be defended. Sometimes that leads to substantial automation. Sometimes the process, data or system basis needs to be corrected first.

How the experience changes the work

Early decisions are tested against later reality.

01

Requirements grounded in delivery

Specifications account for what a supplier must calculate, engineer, price, implement and test. Scope, interfaces, exclusions and acceptance criteria are delivery decisions, not document formatting.

02

Investment choices grounded in operation

Staffing, data maturity, exceptions, maintenance, service, resilience and required process discipline enter the comparison. Technical sophistication is not a value in itself.

03

Physical and digital decisions considered together

Material flow and layout are connected to building interfaces, ERP, WMS, WCS, MES, controls, master data, exception ownership and test evidence.

04

A recommendation with stated conditions

Fabian states what should remain, change or be standardised, where flexibility is worth paying for, which variant he recommends and what evidence could change the conclusion.

How clients work with Fabian

Direct responsibility without hidden handovers.

Fabian leads the initial review, analysis, key meetings, core planning documents, supplier dialogue and recommendations. The person presenting the recommendation is responsible for how it was reached.

Meetings have a defined purpose: obtain evidence, resolve an open point, examine a trade-off or make a decision. They feed into calculations, layouts, specifications, evaluations, scope matrices, decision records or test plans.

At the start, the mandate states the result, source material, work, deliverables, interactions, dependencies, exclusions and approvals. If the evidence is insufficient, Fabian says which conclusion is provisional and what is needed next.

Tidira behind the direct relationship

Personal accountability with a structured project record.

Fabian is responsible for the professional judgment. Tidira keeps sources, data, assumptions, calculations, decisions, requirements and corrections connected across project phases.

A conclusion can be traced to its basis, updated when facts change and transferred into later planning and testing. Other specialists can contribute while decision ownership remains explicit.

Relevant fields of experience

  • Intralogistics systems from pick-by-light and conveyors to ASRS, shuttles, AutoStore, Exotec, AGV, AMR and robot picking
  • SAP including EWM contexts, Dynamics 365 Business Central, ERP, WMS, WCS, MFS, MES, PLC and device interfaces
  • Material-flow and capacity modelling, process and layout design, 3D planning, specifications, tenders, tests, cutover, operation and maintenance
  • Advanced manufacturing, e-mobility, pharma and life science, including GMP-related and qualification-aligned delivery

Responsibility boundary

Where other specialists fit

Tidira does not replace architecture, structural engineering, building services, fire protection, safety, qualification and validation, supplier design or client approvals. Fabian coordinates and challenges the interfaces that touch the intralogistics mandate and remains responsible for Tidira's analysis, planning and recommendations within the agreed scope.

Direct project contact

Discuss the project with Fabian.

Send the business objective or constraint, project phase, next consequential decision and relevant date. Data extracts, layouts, supplier offers, specifications, schedules and open-point lists are useful if available.

Fabian reviews the context directly. If Tidira can make a useful contribution, he proposes a defined next piece of work. If not, he will say so.
